Blue Flag Mijas Costa

Forget the serenity of Mijas village and look toward the marvellous Mijas Costa with great sand, sun and a plthora of water sports Awarded the blue flag for being the best in the provence, Mijas Costa boasts a great safety record for its water sports: Parasailing, skiing and sailing are regular features on the water. Be sure to check out the Chiringuito (beach restaurant) charm here too, where you can sample a variety of Spanish seafood eaten with the favourite holiday drink, tinto de verano – ordinary red wine topped up with carbonated water, either regular or lemon-flavoured.

Mijas covers two major ubanisations… Sitio de Calahonda and Riviera del Sol: Calahonda is very English with many pubs, karaoke, british doctors, imported foods in the shops etc.  The nearby Riviera del Sol is similarly inviting and popular among foreigners, particularly the large commercial centre with its bar, telephone booths and grocery store combined. Mijas Costa has lots of pretty coves and beaches, lovely Mijas Villas styled with Spanish influence to ensure the area stays picturesque.

Mijas Costa also boasts some of the coast’s more famous golf courses including La Cala Resort. Mijas’ neighbouring golf hotspot, it is the largest golf complex in Spain with 3 full courses: Campo América, Campo Asia and Campo Europa. This beautiful 1,000-acre complex is only a short distance from the Sierra de Mijas Natural Park, and includes property with apartments, homes, villas and a luxury hotel.

All of these considerations has ensured that Mijas attracts Europeans keen to find Spanish style with European amenities without the harsher climate of Northern Europe. The new hostpital is only 15 minutes away and of a hig standard and even newspapers can be found in the shops before 9am featuring French, German and English languages!

We have an abundance of good quality sports and recreation facilities both in and around La Cala de Mijas. The tennis club “Club del Sol” welcomes all comers as does the Lawn bowls centre at Miraflores. There are gymnasiums, dive centres and virtually every outdoor activity within minutes of the village with competition standard Golf Courses scattered all around the perimeter of Mijas.

Mijas is a location travelled to during the whole year.  The climate is such that you will be able to enjoy Mijas Villas spanish styling of seamless indoor / outdoor lifestyles which has made the Costa del Sol so popular for so many years. Within easy striking distance of La Cala de Mijas are the famous town names of Puerto Banus, Marbella and Torremolinos & Fuengirola.  Sea Life and splash parks will keep the kids happy.

With Mijas being located relatively close to Malaga Airport, renting or buying villas in Mijas makes sense as it is convenient to travel here from many other area destinations and is well worth the trip.
